American Publisher Killed in Amalfi Boat Crash

Adrienne Vaughan, a prominent American book publisher, was killed in a boating accident off the Amalfi coast in Italy when the chartered 29-foot power boat she and her family were riding on hit a 130-foot sailboat that was not moving. Vaughan, 45, had been sun bathing on the bow of the power boat at the time. She was thrown overboard in the collision and then was hit by the boat’s propellers. An 11 year old girl was killed last week when the wake from a passing boat threw her and eight others off their 23-foot boat on the Intracoastal Waterway just north of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The girl, Olivia Knighton, the daughter of retired Major League Soccer goalie Brad Knighton, was hit in the head by her boat’s prop.
