New Azimut 55 Fly, with Italian Style, Soft Curves and Sophisticated Design, To Debut in Dusseldorf

The all-new Azimut 55 Fly, with nary a sharp edge or straight line anywhere, will debut at the Boot Düsseldorf show in Germany from Jan. 20-28. The contemporary Italian-designed yacht, filled with light and luxury home-style interiors, has three cabins and two heads (plus a crew cabin and head), and will top out at about 31 knots.

The Azimut’s sophisticated lines, inside and out, are soft and smooth; there are no sharp edges on this cruiser. The exterior is designed by Stefano Righini, for Azimut, and the interior by Achille Salvagni, an architect who’s on the A list from Elle Décor USA and one of AD Collector’s top 100 international designers. The interior features five different materials: grey zebrawood, dark oak, glossy black lacquer, and bronze and steel inserts.

The large cockpit has a long sofa and table against the transom for relaxing and entertaining, and it’s protected by the overhang from the extended flybridge above. The entrance to the salon is designed as a lobby, with the galley to port, so it can serve guests in the cockpit or inside the yacht. The salon itself is one step up, with a large U-shaped sofa on the port side and a smaller settee on the starboard side, immediately aft of the helm.

The accommodations deck is three steps down, with the full-beam master situated midships, with a large bed on the starboard side, facing a sofa to port. The head and stall shower are also to port. The VIP cabin is forward with a double bed and the head, also with stall shower is to port; it also has an entrance to the companionway. The third cabin with two berths is to starboard.

Something you notice right away is the very large sun lounge on the bow, made even more inviting by large cushions. Up top, on the flybridge, the helm station is to port and a super-sized sofa and table are to starboard. There’s more room for two facing sofas farther aft up there.

In the U.S. Azimuts are sold by MarineMax, with more than 50 locations across the country.
