You Can See More Cruising Boats than Ever at the Miami Shows Next Week. Here Are Our Reviews of 38 of Them

By Peter A. Janssen

It would be hard to find a larger or more impressive display of new cruising boats anywhere in the world than what you can see in Miami next week. At the ever-larger Miami International Boat Show on Virginia Key, you’ll find more than 1,400 boats (including many more in the 40- to 80-foot range), while at the Miami Yacht Show up on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, there are 500 more. (And that’s not counting the superyacht show on Watson Island, but that’s by invitation only.) All the shows start next Thursday, Feb. 15, and run through Monday Feb. 19.

In our Miami Boat Show Special Edition this week, we have reviews of 38 new power cruising boats across a wide range of sizes, styles, engines and amenities that will be on display in Miami. With those 38, we barely scratch the surface of all the boats there, but we’ve tried to cover a representative sample – blue-water passagemakers, coastal cruisers, outboards, inboards, hybrids, monohulls, cats, you name it. We’ve already tested some and we’re looking forward to testing many more. The idea here is to fuel your dreams for your next boat, or for your next boating season, whether you can get to Miami or are just reading at home. Take a look:

The new Outer Reef 610 Motoryacht is deemed the ‘perfect-sized’ yacht for owner-operators who are looking for ease of maneuverability, fuel efficiency, storage capacity, and incredible interior volume. Interior accommodation space is enlarged allowing for a full beam master cabin with a centerline king berth, large L-shaped walk-in closet and abundant cabinetry and storage. Also spacious are the queen VIP cabin forward, and port guest cabin with side by side twin berths. The open main deck layout, flooded with natural light, provides nearly unlimited sightlines from her pilothouse, an adjoining galley with full size appliances with large pantries, and an expansive salon with covered aft deck for relaxing alfresco dining. The added length of the hull under the extended swim platform increases hull speed, with a cruising speed of 9-18 knots and max speed of 13-23 knots. The large swim platform is the perfect launching point for all types of water recreation, including your next diving and fishing adventures.
