Aquila just announced that it’s building a new flagship 70 power cat with massive entertaining and living spaces and the seagoing capability to explore the world. The new Aquila 70 is scheduled to make its debut in the United States next spring.

The new cruising yacht, with a beam of almost 27 feet, offers a combination of modern design and easy living, even on long-range cruises. The interior layouts are spacious and flexible, and they’re all filled with light from windows all around.

The Skydeck is particularly large, offering extra room for entertaining, sunbathing and enjoying the view while underway. We don’t have many details yet, but the company says the new 70 will be powered by Volvo diesels with joystick controls to help with docking and maneuvering.

“Engineered for comfort and range, the Aquila 70’s raised bridge deck between hulls allows for greater comfort and improved speed,” said Dave Bigge, VP of Aquila International.

“The Aquila 70 will set a new standard for quality, innovation and performance in the power catamaran and luxury yacht segment,” said Yvan Eymieu, Aquila’s international distribution manager. “This vessel is unlike anything you’ve stepped aboard before. Soft-touch fabrics, rich wood finishes, panoramic windows, increased headroom and versatile interior layouts offer everything a yacht owner is looking for.”

The new 70 is a major step up for Aquila; its fleet now runs from 32 to 48 feet. Aquilas are built by the Sino Eagle Group in China for MarineMax. They’re sold to private buyers and they’re also put in to the MarineMax Vacations charter fleet.

More than 100 Aquilas have been built for charter fleets in the past five years, where they’ve proved to be practical, comfortable cruisers with lots of social zones and easy access to the water. You can charter them in the British Virgin Islands and the Abacos from MarineMax Vacations, and from other charter operators in the Pacific Northwest and the Whitsunday Islands in Australia.

Specs.: LOA: 69’9”; Beam: 26’11”; Draft: 4’9”; Disp.: 110,000 lbs.; Fuel: 1,447 gals.; Water: 412 gals.; Power: Volvo diesels.
