Here’s a new toy for the rest of the summer – and for a lot of summers to come: The Taiga Orca electric jet ski, and it gives a whole new meaning to plug and play.

The Orca, made by Taiga Motors in Montreal, is powered by a 180-hp electric motor and a battery with a 20kWh capacity. It has a top speed of 56 knots and a range of 130 nm. After that, you just plug it in and it will charge back to 80 percent capacity in 20 minutes. Then it’s time to go out and play again.

The two-person Orca is 9’ 6” long, with a beam of 3’ 11”, and it weighs just 580 pounds. Since it’s all electric, there are no emissions, smoke or noise problems, and you don’t have to store gas on your dock or your mothership to power the PWC.

You can stay connected on your Orca. It comes with a GPS, LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in a data center.

The Orca has brake and reverse controls, and a waterproof phone compartment. A boarding step and fish finder are options. It comes in three colors: black, blue, and red.

The Taiga Orca has no need for maintenance or servicing, and it has a five-year powertrain warranty. Starting price is $15,000. Read more:
