Tesoro Launches T40 Outboard Cruiser

Tesoro just launched its new T40 Cruiser, a super-modern, minimalist-looking two-cabin yacht with either inboard or outboard power. The latest Tesoro was built in the Murcian yard in Spain that also built Sir Ben Ainslie’s British America’s Cup high-tech foiling sailboat. Vanguard was a partner with Tesoro for its earlier T38 and now the T40, responsible for the design and the performance.

The new Tesoro T40 will be sold in the U.S. by HMY. Powered by standard twin Mercury Verados, the boat tops out at 45 knots. Other Verados, from 300-hp to 450-hp, are options.

For entertaining or picnic cruises, the T40 can hold 12 passengers. For weekend (or longer) cruises, it has a master cabin with a double bed; a skylight provides natural light. A second cabin with two individual berths is amidships. There’s also a full head and shower below.

The galley is up, under the T-Top, with a gas stove, fridge and sink. The decks are teak and there are teak caprails. An awning over the foredeck provides protection from the sun. A unique, lower sun pad up there is meant for safe lounging, even underway.

A large teak table with folding wings provides a dinette in the center of the boat. Aft, a super-sized sun lounge can hold several people. It opens to a large swim platform, which can be lowered hydraulically.

The two outboards are positioned so you can walk around in front of them on the swim platform. There’s a large storage space under the aft sun lounge in the outboard version of the boat.

Specs.: LOA: 40’6”; Beam: 11’9”; Draft (engines up): 1’6”; Disp.: 13,600 lbs.; Fuel: 256 gals.; Water: 66 gals.; Power: 2×400-hp Mercury Verado outboards. Read more at http://tesoro.yachts and see the T40 in action in  the video below:
