Denison Accepts Bitcoin for Yacht Sales, Charters

Denison Yacht Sales says it now will accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment for yacht sales and charters. Denison made the decision after several clients asked to pay in cryptocurrencies.

“Bitcoin does a lot of things that are really unique on terms of efficiencies,” said Bob Denison, the president of Denison Yacht Sales. “One of them was privacy and security for the person that owns the Bitcoin currency. It allows buyers to send money any day at any time of day, so there are no physical restrictions, like a bank not being open.”

He said that Bitcoin “just added a huge value to people that wanted to buy boats outside of the United States, and it became really cool for people who wanted to sell their boats to international clients.”

Denison already has a multi-currency account that accepts about a dozen foreign currencies, including euros, Japanese yen and British pounds. Denison says it was the first yacht brokerage firm to accept Bitcoin as payment for sales and charters, and to accept cryptocurrency without a limit.

In addition to Bitcoin, Denison accepts other major cryptocurrencies, including Ether and Dogecoin. Denison uses Bitpay to facilitate crypto transactions.

The blockchain network makes Bitcoin payments untraceable, a big advantage for people who want to keep their transactions and travel private. Bitcoin transactions also take just a few seconds to process; there’s no waiting for bank approval.

One caveat: If you’re on charter, it’s a good idea to tip the crew in cash, not crypto. Read more:
