VanDutch Launches Luxury 40

VanDutch has launched a new, retooled version of its head-turning 40, but it still has the clean, elegant, minimalist looks of the original.

The new VanDutch 40 is a slightly longer, higher and updated boat, representing some changes since the luxury Italian builder, Cantiere del Pardo, bought the Dutch company in 2020. Cantiere del Pardo now builds both Pardo and VanDutch boats at its yard in Forli.

The lines of the VanDutch 40 are long and linear; the cleats are concealed, and the anchor is hidden (and is deployed by pushing a button on the helm console). Standard power comes from two 380-hp Volvo diesel stern drives, producing a top speed of about 38 knots. Twin 440-hp Volvos are optional upgrades.

The new 40 is a performer, with the stern drives producing fast acceleration and total control in higher-speed turns. The yacht has Volvo’s joystick at the helm for easy maneuvering around a dock, and it comes with trim tabs and a bow thruster.

A large windshield protects the passengers, and VanDutch has added soundproofing in the engine compartment so the boat is relatively quiet. The boat holds ten people.

A luxury build, the VanDutch 40 has superyacht-level upholstery with custom stitching along the borders. A buyer can order a personal logo on the backrests.

Sun pads are aft, plus two L-shaped settees and a central table with a small fridge. Two other small fridges are under the sink to the right of the companionway. The helm is on the port side, with a single seat large enough for two. The raised helm has two 12” Garmin displays.

Below, there’s a lounge with a settee and a flat-screen TV, a small galley and a head. Two portholes on the foredeck let in natural light.

Specs.: LOA: 40’9”; Beam: 11’1”; Draft: 2’9”; Disp.: 23,369 lbs.; Fuel: 224 gals.; Water: 44 gals.; Power: 2×380-hp Volvo diesel stern drives. Read more:
