Pearl To Launch Striking New 72 in Lauderdale

The new Pearl 72, with its striking lines and light-filled interior, will make its worldwide debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show starting Oct. 26.

Built in the UK, this latest Pearl has several unique features, including two master cabins designed for co-owners who want to be on the yacht together or simply for favored guests who truly want to be treated like VIPs.

Pearl was founded in 1998 with the goal of creating a new range of luxury motor yachts with opulent and voluminous interiors and excellent designs. The fleet now runs from 62 to 95 feet.

The exterior of the new 72 was designed by Bill Dixon, the British naval architect, and Kelly Hoppen, CBE, who has worked on earlier Pearls. She said the interior was designed around a theme of “indulgence” with the idea of capturing the feeling of a luxury New York City apartment on the water.

“The lines are as elegant as ever,” Dixon said, comparing the 72 with earlier Pearls, “now a bit sleeker and more streamlined, and the use of spheric glass gives her curves in all the right places. As for the layout, we were as shrewd as ever to use the available space to our maximum advantage.”

The 72’s looks are bound to turn heads in Lauderdale, and everywhere else, with its supersized raked windshield, the huge slash of hull-side windows running along the lower deck, and the flying buttress-like supports for the flybridge.

Other features on the 72 include a sun roof with three settings on the flybridge hardtop, large lounges on the foredeck and aft deck, a garage big enough for an 11’ 3” Williams 345 jet tender, and a beach club leading to the hydraulic swim platform.

The accommodations include the two master staterooms plus two more for guests and one for crew. The main master is forward with a private entrance, a feature borrowed from much larger superyachts; the other is full-beam amidships.

Standard power is two 1,400-hp MANs, producing a top speed of 32 knots and a range of 250 nm at cruising speed. Twin 1,600-hp MTUs are options.
