European Boat of the Year Awards

The winners of the annual European Boat of the Year Awards were just announced at the Düsseldorf show. The winners are chosen by a panel of judges from 12 European boating magazines, and they consider each boat’s workmanship, handling, layout, safety, value, and new ideas and concepts.

For this year’s contest, the judges looked at more than 250 new boats, and ultimately choose the winners, and multiple finalists, in six categories. (The Prestige M 48 is shown at top.)  The winners are:

Sportboats up to 8 Meters (26’):

Winner: Askelladen C 78 Cruiser (above)

Finalists: Bayliner M19, Beneteau Flyer 8 Sundeck, Boston Whaler 250 Dauntless, Rand Source 22.

Powerboats up to 10 Meters (33’):

Winner: Jeanneau Cap Camarat 10.5 (above)

Finalists: Nuva 9 Open, Quarken 27 T-Top, Westline 27, XO Discover 9 T-Top.

Motorboats up to 14 Meters (46’):

Winner: De Antonio D36 (above)

Finalists: Bavaria SR 36, Jeanneau DB 43, Wellcraft 355, Windy W 34 Alize.

Motoryachts up to 20 Meters (65’):

Winner: Prestige M 48 (above)

Finalists: Absolute 56 Fly, Fjord 53 XL, Pardo GT52, Riviera 4600 Sportsyacht.

Displacement Class:

Winner: Super Lauwersmeer SLX 54 (above)

Finalists: Beneteau Swift Trawler 48, Linssen 55 SL AC Variotop.

Electric Motorboats:

Winner: Candela C-8 (above)

Finalists: Delphia 11 Sedan, Magonis Wave E 550, Silent 60, Steeler 61 S Electric.
