Techohull Building 48-Foot, 86-Knot RIB

Technohull, the Greek builder of high-performance RIBs, is building a new 48-foot luxury craft with a top speed of 86 knots. Technohull’s new Omega 48 will be powered by five 450-hp outboards. If you want  a tamer version, you also can get it with twin 600-hp outboards.

Either way, you’ll be comfortable, at least judging by Technohull’s claims for the new Omega. It says the Omega 48 has more luxury touches than previous versions, and it even has a large cabin below with an oversized double bed and separate head and shower.

You reach those accommodations via a pantograph door in the side of the console. The helm deck, protected by a large one-piece windshield and an aerodynamic hardtop, has two rows of three shock-absorbing seats each.

For the first time, Technohull has built a walkaround sun bed on the aft deck; it has openings on each side to access storage space. There’s even enough room for a small dinghy. On the foredeck, there’s another sun bed and a seat that’s built into the leading edge of the console.

The boat has a beam of 15’ 6” and sleek, aggressive lines. Technohull’s Dynastream deep-V hull with ventilated steps is designed to cut through waves offshore and deflect spray.

Technohull has built fast, offshore RIBs for more than two decades. The new 48 is meant to stake out a position in the upscale yacht market; it joins an existing 47 and 45 in the Omega fleet.
