Italia Yachts Launches Its First Powerboat

Italia Yachts just entered the powerboat market with a splash, introducing its new 43 Veloce with a sculpted, super-modern look and an unusual sheer. The new Italia is built for inboard power, with its massive drop-down aft sections, although, in a nod to the American market, it also comes with three outboards.

Founded in 2011, Italia has concentrated on making sailboats, only sailboats, until now. But times, and markets, change. The 43 Veloce is the company’s first entry in the power market, and Italia wanted to create a boat that had its own look and identity.

The 43 Veloce is marked by its raised bow, which should keep the deck dry, its cutout in the sheer by the helm, and by its open transom. It has two cabins, and one head, below, for overnighting.

The aft deck starts with a central dinette and integrated aft-facing lounges built around  a drop-down table. In keeping with the current style, hydraulic terraces drop down from both sides of the cockpit, and the entire transom folds down also, creating the beach-club effect so desired lately in larger yachts. A central section drops down to the water, for access to water sports, and rises up to become a diving platform.

Under the hardtop, a transverse wet bar is built into the back of the two-seat helm station, while the cutaway bulwarks offer close-up views of the water. On the foredeck, a sun lounge/social area is set deep into the deck for protection.

Below, the standard layout calls for the owner’s cabin forward, with a double bed. The head is on the port side, and a guest cabin is full-beam aft with twin beds. Owners also can opt to have that aft cabin serve as the master, and reconfigure the bow area into a lounge with a table.

Italia is offering a variety of power alternatives, starting with twin 440-hp Volvo IPS600 drives, but moving up to twin 480-hp Volvo IPS650s, or three 300-hp outboards.
