Palm Beach Marina: Location, Location, Location

If you’re going to Palm Beach for the show on your boat later this month, or simply cruising in south Florida at any other time, take a look at the freshly renovated Town of Palm Beach Marina. You’ll be impressed.

Most important is its location. It’s on the Intracoastal Waterway, just across Lake Worth Lagoon from the mainland and the show venue. In the other direction, it’s within walking distance of all the boutiques, galleries, restaurants and watering holes of Worth Avenue. The iconic Breakers hotel and resort is only eight-tenths of a mile away.

It’s also just north of the Everglades golf course and it’s next to a park where you can relax under the shade of mammoth banyan trees. Walking and bike paths run along the entire length of the marina, with tiled dog fountains and marble benches.

The Town Marina is the only public marina in Palm Beach, but that’s a bit misleading. After all, “public” in the rarefied air of Palm Beach does not exactly have the same meaning as it does in the rest of the world. The marina has been there since the 1940s, but when it reopened after a $34 million renovation at the end of 2021, it decided to cater to the growing market for superyachts.

It now concentrates on yachts from 60 to 294 feet. Rebuilt with Bellingham floating concrete docks and upgraded shore power, it now has 84 slips and 500 feet of docks; ten can hold yachts over 200 feet.

To make life easy, it offers cart and porter concierge services, and it has gated access and security cameras for safety. It has a 14-foot-wide main pier with extra-large finger piers, and three separate building offer on-site amenities, including lounges and showers. It provides high-capacity pump-outs at the slips, plus high-speed Wi-Fi.

The marina welcomes transients, since it has easy access to the Atlantic for fishing or a hop over to the Bahamas. But it also appeals to yacht owners who want to stay a while. Its seasonal rates (from Nov. 1 through April 30) start at $58,035 for a 60-foot yacht; $95,265 for a 90-footer, and $565,293 for a 294-footer.

But there is also room for the rest of us. Indeed, the owners of a 42-foot Sabre motoryacht stayed there recently and reported that they had a great time.
