Scout Boats is building what it says is the world’s largest outboard-powered cruising boat in its factory in Summerville, South Carolina. The new Scout 670 LXC is powered by five 600-hp Mercury V-12outboards, and it’s scheduled to be launched later this year.
The Scout 670 has an LOA of 66’9”, which makes it 1’9” larger than the HCB Estrella 65, made in Knoxville, Tennessee, and powered by six 450-hp Mercury outboards. An earlier, and slightly smaller, HCB was featured in an episode of Billions, which never shied away from excess.
The new 670 is the flagship of the Scout fleet, which starts at 17 feet. With its total of 3,000-hp, it is expected to top out at 60 mph and have a range of 500 miles at its cruising speed of 40 mph.
It was designed by Harrison Eidsgaard who usually works on superyachts and luxury airplanes from his studio in London. It has a low profile and a wraparound windshield that flows all the way back in the salon.

Scout says the new 670 will have “all the incredible features of luxury, fishing, cruising and high performance. Expect everything.”
The Scout 670 has three staterooms, a lower salon and a full galley. It has a stepped hull, and it’s laid up with carbon fiber and E-glass. The beam is 16’ 2”, but it grows to 19’ 6” when the bulwark doors are opened on both sides of the cockpit. There are two seats facing the helm on the starboard side, and two matching ones to port, with a settee and sofa aft.
The new Scout will be sold by MarineMax.
