Since its founding in 2019, Skyhawk has become a leader in wireless, battery-operated, cellular-connected monitoring devices. Last year, the company came out with its Oversea models designed for boats and they earned both an Innovation Award at the 2024 Miami Boat Show and a place on the NNMA’s Top 100 New Products list for 2024.
Oversea monitors keep an eye on all the important aspects of a boat that has been left untended for a length of time. Monitors have specific responsibilities, so you can mix and match them as you deem necessary. You can have monitors for your battery bank, a high-water alarm, a bilge pump monitor, a motion sensor and even a shore-power monitor.
The sensors communicate with a central hub that transmits the data to your phone on which you have downloaded the Oversea app. In the palm of your hand, you have all of your boat’s vital information 24 hours a day while you are away from it.
The significant innovation that makes onboard monitoring so much more efficient was the development of individually battery-powered monitors. The system Is not wired into your battery bank and isn’t slowly cannibalizing it and therefor limiting the time it can operate. Oversea monitors will run for years on a set of batteries because the company figured out how to reduce power needs by 97%.
Oversea is a subscription based monitoring business, so once you purchase the hub and monitors, you then pay a monthly or annual fee. A hub and six monitors will cost $20 a month. A three-monitor pack without the hub costs $10 per month.
The company is part of the PICA Group and based in Derry, New Hampshire where also manufactures all of it products. Read more here.
