The launch of the Absolute 52 Fly , following the introduction of her sisterships the 56 and 60 Fly, enlarges the builder’s Flybridge line to six models. All of the Fly range share the same snub bows, complex hull forms, voluminous interiors and distinctive hull glazing.

Built in Podenzano, Italy the new 52 Fly is a Mediterranean family cruiser designed for indoor-outdoor living and relaxing vacations. Connecting cruising families and friends to the natural world and seascapes around them, especially during the Med’s hot summers, is a popular design trend in Europe that Absolute embraces.

The main outdoor living spaces in the large flybridge and the cockpit below it are left open in the design by the builder so owners can specify the type and style of furniture that suits their outdoor living needs be it formal, casual or something in between.

The salon has large windows that can be electrically lowered to make the living area full or natural breeze and light. On the right days, you can switch off the air conditioning. The cabins below have huge windows that bring the outdoors and natural light inside.

The foredeck offers an island lounging area and a small dinette. This will be a favorite retreat, particularly when the sun awning is in place, for morning coffee, evening sundowners and afternoons with a good book.

Or, you and your guests can climb to the flybridge where there is a lounge area, a wet bar and fridge. The views from this height will be memorable.

Following this eco-friendly design theme, Absolute equips each Fly model with a large solar array on the flybridge’s hard top that generates a maximum of 1.3 kW; this is enough power to run the whole boat minus the air conditioning and, thus, reduces generator noise and emissions.

The 52 has a three-cabin two head layout, with the master cabin in the bow, the guest cabin amidships and a two-bunk cabin between them. As the builder has done with the rest of the Fly range, a fourth cabin has been tucked under the cockpit aft with an entry from the stern platform. This can be crew’s quarters or will be fine for overflow guests and grown children.

The 52 is powered by twin Volvo Penta D8 IPS-800s rated at a combined 600-horsepower.  These will produce a top speed of about 30 knots and a cruising speed in the 20 to 25-knot range. In sea trials, the 52 burnt about 2.5 gallons a mile at 25 knots. At 10 knots, it will consume about 1.5 gallons a mile and will have a range of 350 miles or so.

The 52 Fly will make a fine family cruiser for those who embrace the indoor-outdoor theme and want to get to their next port quickly and efficiently.  Plus, the builder encourages owners to work closely with them to create their own personal and customized cruising boat.
