The Turkish builder Numarine, which is celebrating its 22nd year in business, will mark the occasion this summer with the launch of the new 30XP Expedition Yacht. In keeping with the times, the 30XP is the first boat made by the builder with optional diesel-electric hybrid propulsion.
Known for their angular and voluminous yachts, Numarine has carved out a nice as a leader in long range cruising in self-sufficient boats. The 30XP, designed by Can Yalman, may be the most exotically angular of all his designs.
Note the almost vertical bow that is high enough to meet the top of the main deck’s salon. On both sides, heavily sculpted chines run from the bows down to nearly the waterline and then aft to about amidships. This will deflect a lot of spray and provides protection for the anchors.
The main deck has glazing all around and there are large windows and glazing in the sides of the hulls. With black tinted glass and black trim, this gives the 30XP a truly distinctive look.
The boat has two large social areas, one on the flybridge and one aft on a terrace above the after deck. The after deck’s bulwarks fold down to create a beach-front for water sports, diving and swimming. The boat has cabin for ten guests, so family and friends will always have pleasant places to gather.
Up on the flybridge, a sofa that will seat eight or 10 will be a main gathering spot and next to it is a dining table that will seat eight. The whole bridge is protected by a hard top.
On the main deck, the owner’s suite takes up the bow area and spans the boat’s full width. Floor to ceiling windows provide this suite with magnificent views. The galley is a seagoing kitchen that will work well when the crew is catering for larger parties. The main dining table is all the way aft. In between is the main living room area. The whole main deck will be filled with natural light.
The four double guest cabins, each with a double berth and en suite head are on the lower level and benefit from a lot of natural light through the hull windows. The crew quarters for five are in the forepeak.
The 30XP will have a top speed of 13 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots. Depending on tankage, it will be capable of cruising many thousands of miles and remain self contained for many weeks at a time. Read more here.
