Italian builder Azimut has long been a style leader among Mediterranean yacht constructors with new models reinventing what it means to exude marine brio and duende. The new Fly 82, which is the flagship of the Azimut Fly series, does just that.
With shapely lines and a strong sheer, the 82 looks like it is in motion even when tied to a dock. The stepped bow design, which is an Azimut staple, not only looks good it deflects spray and eases the hull up onto a plane.
The cabin has a severely angled wind screen and the line of that flows neatly into the cabin top and the flybridge above, The flybrdge itself sits low on the cabin without giving the 82 the look of a wedding cake. Handsome, purposeful and stylish, that’s the look of the 82.
Like most mid-size yachts built primarily for cruising in the Med, the Fly 82 has large dedicate outdoor spaces for sunning and easy socializing. There is a huge lounge and sunning area forward and an equally large area to recline in the sun on the flybridge.
The cockpit is not overly large and has a table with built-in chairs running down the center line. This will be home for al fresco meals. The innovation in the cockpit is what Azimut calls their Deck-to-Deck system. The transom folds down to form a giant water-front area. The dinghy garage for a Williams Jet 320 is in the stern and exposed with the transom is down.

Living spaces start with the spacious salon with glass doors to the cockpit that slide almost all the way to each side thereby combining the salon and cockpit into one large social area. The galley is forward across from the inside helm and will be a focus of social life as kitchens do ashore.
There are four private cabins forward with a full-width master suite and three guest cabins. A crew’s cabin has also been added,
The 82 is powered by triple Volvo IPS 1350s each rated at 1,000 horsepower so it has the moxie to perform like a sport boat, another Azimut trademark. The engine room is spacious and well laid with the two Kohler gensets and all three engines easily accessible.
Azimut finishes their yachts with impeccable modern Euro-style. The new Fly 82 is no exception and cements the builder’s place at the front of the yachting fleet.
