Parker’s Monico 110 Fly Packs a Ton of Big Boat Qualities in a Small Package

At only 37 feet, the new Parker Monico 110 Flye from the huge Polish builder Parker Yachts, is only one of a handful of cruisers under 40 feet to sport a flybridge and it does so with grace and good looks.

A twin outboard, two-cabin, one-head family cruiser, the Monico Fly was designed in collaboration with the famed Tony Castro Design firm. The hull is Euro-modern in styling and has a sharp entry. With a deep V form underwater.

The flybridge sits atop the salon fairly discreetlt so the boat doesn’t look like a wedding cake. Instead of a hard top, they chose to use a curved arch at the aft end for mounting antennas, radar and satellite link and running light.

Instead of the hard top, they use a canvass Bimini to protect crew from sun and rain and this can be folded down so theboat can squeeze beneath low bridges.

Powered by twin Mercury Verado 350s, and supplied with the outboard’s Skyhook joystick docking system, the boat will have a superior turn of speed and  will; then be easy to handle in the marina.

One of Parker’s innovations is to mount the outboards in a partially enclosed space at the transom which significantly reduces engine noise in the cockpit and provide extra horizontal space for a sun lounge.

Everywhere you look you can see haw well they have fit cruising amenities into the 37=foot envelope. Up top. The flybridge has a lounge and table. The front end of the lounge had a folding back so you either sit facing forward while underway or aft at meal time.

Even the ladder to the flybridge is unique as the bottom three steps rotate out of the wat to provide extra floor space in the cockpit.

The salon has an L-shaped dinette to port, and similar L-shaped galley across from it and the helms forward on the starboard side. Note the side foor at the helm which gives the skipper direct access to the side decks and mid-deck cleat when mooring and unmooring.

Parker has ben in business in one form or another since 1870. The boat building arm of the company has dealers in every boating nation and offer dozens of models. The Monaco 110 Fly  falls in the Leisure line and would make an excellent choice for cruising the Great Loop.
