De Antonio Introduces Flagship D60

De Antonio Yachts, based in Barcelona, Spain recently launched its new 60-foot flagship, which they intend to debut at the Cannes Festival of Yachting in September.  As an outboard powered family cruiser, it will be interesting to see how well the now-recognized De Antiono design aesthetic works in a boat of this size. Boat Burns Off Santa Cruz, Two Men Rescued

Last Wednesday, a 45-foot fishing boat with two men aboard caught fire a mile off Santa Cruz, California. At 7:40 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received an alert that the boat was on fire and immediately issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast to all vessels and rescue teams in the area, The Coast Guard station in Monterey dispatched a boat crew and the Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol and a fire boat raced to the scene.  Despite the huge blaze and billows of black smoke, the Harbor Patrol crew were able to rescue to the fishermen from the burning boat…

A Personal Locator Beacon with AIS Capability Will Save Your Life

On September 10, 1982, three passengers aboard a light aircraft crashed into the sea off the Canadian Maritimes. They were able to deploy their life raft and they had with them the earliest version an Emergency Position Indicating Beacon (EPIRB). They switched it on and set in motion the very first COSPAS-SARSAT rescue.
