Largest Ever Fort Lauderdale Show Opens Oct. 30

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show just keeps getting bigger and better every year. This year is the show’s 60th anniversary, and it will have 1,500 boats in the water on six miles of floating docks, 1,200 exhibitors and an expected 110,000 visitors (including 1,000 who will arrive on their private planes). The organizers say it is the largest in-the-water boat show in the world, and it runs from Wednesday, Oct. 30, through Sunday, Nov. 3. Large, indeed, and a far cry from the first Lauderdale show, which featured 13 boats, and which opened in the in the Eisenhower Administration.…

Denzil Baynes of the Nordhavn 120 Aurora was the big – meaning $10,000 big – winner of the first Nordhavn Film Festival at the company’s headquarters in Dana Point, California, on Saturday night. Record-Breaking Tight Fit in the Corinth Canal. See Video

A British cruise liner just set a record as the largest vessel to transit the Corinth Canal, a four-mile-long, man-made cut that separates the Greek mainland from the Peloponnesian Peninsula. It was a tight fit. The liner, the MS Braemar, is 73’ 8” wide. The canal is 78’ 7” wide. (See the video below.) New 3D Printer Makes 25-Foot Boat in 72 Hours

The University of Maine just launched the world’s largest boat ever made by a 3D thermoplastic printer. The new patrol boat is 25 feet long, weighs 5,000 pounds and was built in just 72 hours.
