Greenline says its 48 hybrid cruiser is still fresh, even after ten years. Indeed, the Slovenian company says it has built 117 units of the 48 so far, and the 120th hull will be delivered later this year. Production is already maxed out at 12 for 2024. The 48 comes in both coupe and flybridge version, to appeal to different owners. But both have a forward master cabin, which has proved popular, and a safe, open plan with no steps between the cockpit and the large salon. “We always wanted Greenline Yachts to do things differently than other yacht builders,…
By George Day Part One: Running fast and efficiently on the Pamilco River In early June, I travelled from Newport, Rhode Island, to Washington, North Carolina, to visit with our friends at MJM Yachts and to test drive the new MJM 42. Washington is an old southern town and port that sits on the edge of the Pamilico River. And, it is a boat building mecca. It has lovely late 18th Century architecture –rebuilt after Northern troops burned the town during the Civil War—and a picturesque waterfront with several marinas and a waterfront park. It was in a marina at…
Patrone Boat just announced that it’s making a new 45 cruiser, a combination of modern technology and 1960s style, that’s designed for outdoor living. The new Patrone is actually a larger (much larger) version of the 33-foot Patrone 100 that the company made two years ago to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Patrone, with its yard in western Liguria, near Genoa, hired Tommaso Spadolini, the prolific designer with his studio in an old church in Florence, to develop that boat to celebrate the golden age of yachting. Spadolini usually designs superyachts, and he took that sensibility to the task. The result…
Horizon Power Catamarans has launched a new PC 52, the entry-level yacht in its fleet. A three-stateroom, two-head cruiser, the 52 is designed for comfortable living even on extended cruises. With twin 550-hp Cummins diesels, the Horizon PC 52 has a top speed of 22 knots, and a range of more than 1,000 nm at 8.4 knots. Horizon calls the new 52 “a power catamaran for cruising connoisseurs.” The high bridge deck clearance will minimize pounding even in a head sea. And the shallow (4’3”) draft makes it attractive for cruising in skinny water destinations, such as the Bahamas. The…

The new SR33 will make its world debut at the Düsseldorf show next January. The SR33 is marked by a low windshield that contributes to the sporty look. The 33, like the others in the SR line, was developed by Marco Casali,…

This latest Navetta will make its U.S. debut at the Miami show in February. A three-stateroom, two-head cruiser, the Navetta 53 is powered by twin 480-hp IPS650 pod drives. Volvo’s fingertip joystick control will make docking easy, and a door next to the lower helm on the starboard side of the salon means the captain can step out to help with the lines. The salon offers 360-degree from large panoramic windows all around. The interior design makes use of contemporary hues,…

Azimut just launched its new 57-foot, eco-friendly Seadeck 6 at the Venice boat show, the debut of the Italian builder’s new series of low-emission, sustainable motoryachts. Azimut says the new Seadeck series yachts are built to reduce emissions by as much as 40 percent a year, when compared to conventional yachts the same size. The new Seadeck 6 provides zero-emissions at anchor or while cruising with the generator off. Its hotel mode is based on a 42-kWh lithium battery pack and an alternator connected to one of the three 480-hp Volvo IPS650 engines. At anchor, the zero-emissions mode can last…
