The brand-new Lexus LY 650, the first yacht developed by the luxury car maker, will make its debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, starting Oct. 30. The new Lexus will be powered by twin Volvo 900-hp IPS1200 pod drives, delivering a top speed of more than 30 knots. The boat is a true multi-national product. Developed by the upscale Japanese car company, it was designed by the Italian studio of Nuvolari Lenard, and manufactured at the Marquis yard in Pulaski, Wisconsin. Based on the popularity of its 33 ProFish, Coastal Craft, the well-regarded builder of aluminum boats in British Columbia, has just launched a Coastal Craft 33 Express with two cabins and outboard power. The new 33 Express has a top speed of 42 knots and a range of 400 nm at 30 knots, according to the company. Coastal Craft, with a model lineup from 30 to 56 feet, makes its boats out of marine welded aluminum, with polyurethane foam insulation in the hull and cabin, for strength and fuel efficiency. Tiara just launched the largest of its outboard boats, the Tiara 43 LS, powered by three 425-hp Yamahas. The upscale new Tiara tops out at more than 46 knots, and it has more than enough creature comforts, including accommodations for four below, to make cruising easy and comfortable as well as fast. Back Cove just announced that it’s building a new 390 Down East cruiser with twin 425-hp Yamaha outboards. The boat is expected to have a top speed of 37 knots, and a cruising range of more than 300 nm at its cruising speed. The Maine company says that it will offer optional outboard power that will push the Back Cove 390 up to the 40-knot range. The announcement came on the opening day of the Newport International Boat Show, where Back Cove is displaying, among other boats, its popular Back Cove 340, its first outboard-powered boat. The newest Palm Beach will have the same beautiful lines as the popular 65, but with more room inside. It also has the signature Palm Beach warped hull, which cuts through the water so efficiently that it leaves almost no wake behind.
