On the morning of Sept. 7, 2018, a fierce fire destroyed the 134-foot yacht Kanga as it was anchored off the coast of Dubrovnik on the Adriatic. The nine guests and four crew all were evacuated; no one was injured. Kanga, a tri-deck displacement yacht, was almost brand new. Two Superyachts Destroyed in Fort Lauderdale Fire. See Video

A dramatic pre-dawn fire destroyed two superyachts at the Universal Marine Center in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday morning. More than 100 firefighters fought the fire, which sent flames and smoke soaring into the air, for four hours. No one was injured in the fire, but Reflections, a 107-foot, 1997 Christiansen (left, in the picture above), and Lohengrin, a 160-foot, 2006 Trinity, were destroyed. Various federal agencies are considering criminal charges in the tragic fire on board the 75-foot dive boat that burned on Labor Day, killing 34 people who were sleeping on a lower deck. Some 34 people were killed after a 75-foot dive boat caught fire and sank off Santa Cruz Island, part of the Channel Islands 20 miles off Southern California, early Labor Day morning. The Coast Guard rescued three boaters recently after their 60-foot boat caught fire about 30 miles east of Miami Beach. Fortunately, a Coast Guard cutter was on patrol not far away, and it rescued all three, uninjured. One American Killed, Several Others Seriously Injured, in Boat Explosion in the Bahamas

A tragic explosion and boat fire about 130 miles south of Nassau in the Bahamas left one American woman dead and nine others injured. The Royal Bahamas Police Force said one of the two outboard engines on the 40-foot tourist boat exploded, engulfing the boat in flames. The boat was carrying ten Americans and two Bahamians.
