New Luxury Marina Coming to Bahamas

A massive luxurious marina and resort is being developed in the Bahamas, at the southwest point of Great Abaco Island. Called Porto Habacoa, it’s meant to be a stopping point for yachts traveling from the U.S. to the Caribbean, cruising in the Bahamas, or just as a destination in its own right. It’s about 160 nm east of Fort Lauderdale, and 50 nm north of Nassau. It’s also next to Abaco National Park, with 20,000 acres…

In the other direction, it’s within walking distance of all the boutiques, galleries, restaurants and watering holes of Worth Avenue. The iconic Breakers hotel and resort is only eight-tenths of a mile away. It’s also just north of…

Brooklyn Marina Closes: Fuhgeddaboudit

The well-established Marine Basin Marina on Brooklyn’s Gravesend Bay will close on April 1, forcing some 200 boat owners to find a new spot for their vessels. The marina, on Brooklyn’s western shore opposite Staten Island, offered deep-water access to fishing and cruising on the Lower Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The Brooklyn Paper reports that the Gagliano family owned the marina for half a century and is selling it, and adjacent properties, to a real estate investment firm for $57.5 million. The marina’s website said it offered “endless opportunities for shopping, eating, drinking. You can also just roam around…
