Silent-Yachts, the pioneering Austrian builder, is in a major growth mode. It’s launching its first Silent 60 solar/electric luxury catamaran this month (pictured above), and its rebranding itself to start new businesses – from tenders to resorts – all centered around its renewable energy theme. Silent-Yachts Sells First 100-Foot Solar Flagship

Silent-Yachts just sold the first Silent 100 Explorer catamaran, a 101-foot luxury yacht capable of crossing oceans under solar power. An Austrian company, Silent-Yachts says its new flagship, with a beam of 44’ 7”,  has the living space equivalent to that found in a monohull half again its size. Hull number one will be launched in 2023. Solar cells on the top of the four-deck Silent 100 Explorer provide up to 40kWp and feed a battery bank with a capacity of 800kWh. New Silent 60: Solar-Powered Cat with a Kite

Silent Yachts just launched its first new 60, and it comes with a sail-kite to give the solar-electric cat an extra 5 knots or so of speed. The new 60 was built at the company’s yard in Thailand; eight more are under construction there. The basic boat is powered by two 50kW electric motors with a 143kW lithium battery and a 100kW generator, producing a cruising speed of 6 to 8 knots and a top speed of 14 knots. Silent Yachts Building Solar-Powered Resort in Bahamas

Silent Yachts just announced that will build a solar-powered luxury waterfront resort in Eleuthera, the Bahamas, that also will include the Austrian company’s solar-powered catamarans. The Eleuthera location will include 16 waterfront villas and eight Silent power catamarans. The first of half a dozen other Silent Resorts planned around the world, the Bahamas destination will include a beachside clubhouse, resort pool, restaurant, bar, fitness room, game room, and a spa. Construction will start in 2021. Silent Yachts Expands with New Battery Power. See Video

Silent Yachts, the innovative Austrian builder, is on a roll. Silent sold its first solar-powered catamaran just two years ago. Now it just ordered 500 lithium-ion battery packs to power the 15 catamarans it has orders for next year, and it’s opened new plants in Thailand and Fano, Italy. The state-of-the-art battery packs add up to 2.5 megawatts; their energy storage is equal to that of 25 new Teslas, or enough to run three U.S. homes for a month. Silent-Yachts keeps on updating and improving its massive, luxurious, 80 Tri-Deck solar-powered catamaran.
