Solaris Launches New 48 Lobster Flybridge at Dusseldorf

Solaris Power, based in Forli, Italy, is introducing its new 48 Lobster Flybridge, with more than a nod to traditional Maine-built lobster boats, at the Düsseldorf boat show, from January 18 to 26. Solaris previously had introduced a 55-foot lobster boat and a 48-foot open, which now has morphed into the flybridge version. Hull number one of the new Sabre 58 Salon Express is scheduled to leave Portland, Maine, on Monday and cruise south. The latest Down East cruiser from Sabre, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will make its public debut at the Miami yacht show, starting Feb. 13, and then appear again at the Palm Beach show, starting March 26. Volvo Inroduces New, More Powerful and Efficient D4 and D6 Engines, Plus Updated IPS and Vessel Control System

Volvo Penta just introduced the next generation of its D4 and D6 diesel engines, the first major changes since they were first introduced in 2003. The new engines will deliver more power and will be more reliable and more economical; indeed, they can cut operating costs by one-third. Beyond the newly redesigned engines, Volvo also is introducing an updated IPS pod drive and an upgraded Electronic Vessel Control System. Azimut just introduced its new 78 Fly, the latest version of the luxury Italian builder’s carbon tech models.
