Vripack Designs New Doggersbank 66 Pocket Explorer

Vripack, the highly regarded Dutch yacht design studio, just announced the building of a new Doggersbank 66 Offshore pocket explorer. The new Doggersbank is under construction at the Altena yard, also in the Netherlands, and is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2021. Vripack designed the yacht for a family of experienced sailors who are transitioning into motor yachts. Nordhavn Building New 41 in Turkey. Around the World, Anyone?

Here’s big news for Nordhavn fans. The company is building a new Nordhavn 41 in Turkey, and it’s going to be ready to cruise around the world. Indeed, Nordhavn says the new 41 will be “the most capable, efficient, safe and sea-kindly passagemaker ever built.” The 41 certainly comes with a rich heritage. Nordhavn put power cruising on the map when its 40 went 24,000 nm around the world in 2001-2002. Since then Nordhavns, with models now ranging from 47 to 120 feet, have gone more than seven million nm in ocean crossings. In keeping with that tradition, the new…

Nordhavn Joins Forces with Vripack, Uses New 3-D Goggles for Super-Realistic Yacht Design

I slipped on the goggles and all of a sudden, even though I was sitting down, I was so much a part of the scene before my eyes that I wanted to reach out and touch the yacht table in front of me. Then I wanted to walk up one step to cross the salon. But there was no table; there was no salon. In reality I was sitting on a second-floor room at the Bahia Mar Hotel during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, testing a new pair of 3-D goggles that Vripack developed with Nordhavn to offer virtual…

The Burger Boat Company, one of the most historic names in American boating, just launched hull number one of its new aluminum Burger 48 Cruiser line with a christening ceremony that included the Mayor of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where Burgers are built. The Mayor gave a key to the city to Cyndy Stiehl, the boat’s owner, and said the project provided work for Burger’s 85 employees. For her part, Stiehl christened the boat Blue Boat Home (the hull is a custom blue color) and said she had wanted a Burger since she first saw one as a teenager. Founded in 1863,…
