The massive, luxurious, electric WiderCat92 will be heading to the United States early next year. Last week, Wider, an Italian builder, announced that it formed a partnership with MarineMax so the U.S.-based retailer will be its exclusive distributor in North America. The Wider yard is now building five of the 92-foot cats, including two scheduled for the U.S. With the new partnership, “MarineMax will be able to make Wider a household name among American boaters,” said Marcello Maggi, the Wider CEO. MarineMax is one of the largest boat dealers in the world, with 79 dealerships in the U.S. Whether in…

Iguana just announced that it will launch a foiling amphibious boat powered by an Evoy 300-hp electric outboard at the Cannes Yachting Festival, starting Sept. 6. With its robust surface-piercing foils, the boat reduces its energy consumption by 50 percent,…
Absolute is building a new luxury 75-foot yacht, the flagship of its Navetta fleet, with some innovative features inside and out. The new Navetta 75 will have four staterooms and four heads, plus a separate crew quarter with its own galley and head. But what’s interesting is the master stateroom on an intermediate level between the main deck and the lower accommodations deck (pictured below). It’s in the bow, and it’s full beam with private access, premium furnishings, and a large en suite head. And it has large windows for spectacular views. Going aft, the cockpit is designed as a…
Marex, the prize-winning Norwegian builder, just announced that it’s making a new 420 Gourmet Cruiser, designed for cruising families. The boat will be the company’s new flagship, and will be launched at the Düsseldorf show in January. Founded in 1973, Marex is a family-owned company; it’s now run by the two sons of the founder. It now makes six models of cruising boats from 31 to 37 feet. It has a reputation for craftsmanship, precise engineering and creative ideas. Its Marex 33 won a European Powerboat of the Year Award earlier this year. The company says the new 420 will…
ZEN Yachts just announced that they’re making a revolutionary new 50 all-electric power cat, with an optional wingsail, that is totally fossil free. There’s not even a generator for backup power. The new ZEN50, with a 26’ 7” beam, is meant to be a luxury motoryacht that’s totally emissions free. Indeed, the company says it’s the first truly emissions-free 50-foot power catamaran on the market today. With a huge solar panels on the hardtops over the flybridge and the foredeck, the cat is built to be self-sufficient. Even the tender uses electric power only and can be charged by the…
Swan’s new 43-foot powerboat has been getting a lot of media attention lately, and deservedly so; it’s a beautiful boat from one of the most highly regarded builders in the world. Here’s our story about the boat that we published back on Jan. 19, 2001, with updated pictures from Swan: Nautor Swan just announced the debut of its first powerboat, the 43-foot Swan Shadow, with the same elegant, minimalist design that the famed Finnish builder has been using on its sailboats for generations. The new Swan Shadow is a bit faster than previous Swans. Indeed, with optional triple 350-hp Mercury…
Long Island Yachts says its Dutch-made 33 Runabout that will make its U.S. debut at the Newport show, starting Sept. 15, is a modern version of traditional Downeast boat. And it has the classic lines of luxury runabouts made there, with a low profile, long sheerline, even a beautiful tumblehome. But the Long Island 33 Runabout isn’t made in Southwest Harbor, Maine, or even on Long Island. It’s built at the Long Island Yachts yard n Hofweg, a bit north of The Haag in The Netherlands. The Long Island 33 will be displayed at the Newport, Rhode Island, show by…
VanDutch has launched a new, retooled version of its head-turning 40, but it still has the clean, elegant, minimalist looks of the original. The new VanDutch 40 is a slightly longer, higher and updated boat, representing some changes since the luxury Italian builder, Cantiere del Pardo, bought the Dutch company in 2020. Cantiere del Pardo now builds both Pardo and VanDutch boats at its yard in Forli. The lines of the VanDutch 40 are long and linear; the cleats are concealed, and the anchor is hidden (and is deployed by pushing a button on the helm console). Standard power comes…
CL Yachts just launched the first hull of its new CLB65 family cruiser, its smallest yacht to date, at the Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Zhuhai, China. The new 65 is scheduled for its world debut at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, starting Oct. 26. CL Yachts, the new luxury brand from Cheoy Lee, is calling the 65 an entry-level cruiser, the smaller sister to the CLB72. It has a basic layout of three staterooms and three heads. Standard power comes from twin 800-hp Volvo IPS1050 pod drives, delivering a top speed of 27 knots. The 65 was designed by naval…
Fairline, the major British builder, is making an all-new Squadron 58 cruiser. It will be the first Fairline with balconies that drop down from the sides of the yacht and a large beach club aft. The forward rake of the hardtop over the flybridge gives the new Fairline a sporty look that carries over to its performance. With standard 900-hp Volvo diesels with straight shafts, the Squadron 58 should top out at more than 30 knots and cruise at about 26 knots. Twin 1,000-hp Volvos are optional. The new Squadron 58 replaces the Squadron 53, and it’s scheduled to be…
