New Bluegame BGX63: Prize-Winning Cruiser

The Bluegame BGXC63 is anything but one more luxurious, high-style Italian-made motoryacht. Indeed, its looks set it apart at the first glance, with low dark wraparound windows, an almost-military-looking, highly raked front windshield, and the hint of a slash of dark glazing along the hull sides running aft. Is This the Future of Boating?

Bluegame Yachts in Viareggio, Italy, is making a 35-foot foiling, hydrogen-powered America’s Cup chase boat that may help shape the future of boating. The boat is called American Magic, and Bluegame is building it for the New York Yacht Club, one of the challengers for the 37th Cup races next year in Barcelona. It’s powered by two electric motors driving props on the forward foil; they are run by two 70kW EODev hydrogen fuel cells (one in each hull). American Magic is scheduled to be launched this summer. Bluegame Unveils New Power Cat Lineup

Bluegame just announced that it’s building a new line of luxury multihull yachts, called BGM, that will start with a highly creative 75 and include Volvo’s hybrid diesel-electric powertrain. Bluegame, part of Italy’s Sanlorenzo Group, unveiled plans for the new BGM75 at the Cannes Yachting Festival; the boat is scheduled to be ready for the same event next September. It seems to be award season overseas. Two weeks ago, the editors of eight European boating magazines (all on the continent) announced their annual European Power Boat Awards. Now we have nine new Motor Boat Awards from the editors of Motor Boat & Yachting in the UK. Prize-Winning Bluegame 70 Debuts at FLIBS

The highly innovative, prize-winning Bluegame BGX70 flagship will make its U.S. debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, along with the Italian builder’s smallest cruiser, the BG42.
