Big Power Cats Rule in Cannes

Two big new power catamarans are getting a lot of attention at the Cannes Yachting Festival, for quite different reasons. One, the Sunreef Power Eco 80, is taking eco-conscious cruising to an entirely new level; its hull sides virtually bristle with built-in solar panels. The other, the VisionF 80, is taking attention-getting to a new level; it’s painted pink. The Sunreef Eco 80 is the Polish yard’s newest power cat, and you can order it in both all-electric and hybrid versions. The all-electric one is at Cannes, and its solar panels produce a massive 36kWp in sunshine, although that’s a…

VisionF Making New 100-foot Cat with Kevlar

VisionF, the fairly new Turkish yard, just announced that it’s building a massive, luxurious 100-foot-long power catamaran, the flagship of its growing fleet. The new VisionF 100 will be built out of Kevlar composite, instead of the aluminum used in the previous yachts. The yard is using Kevlar in the new 100 because of its strength and light weight. It’s also strong and rigid. The yacht is powered by four 900-hp Volvo IPS1050 pod drives, delivering a top speed of 22 knots. Its draft of just 3’ 9” means it can safely go in the shallow waters of the Bahamas…

VisionF Building Wide-Beamed 60-Foot Cat

VisionF Yachts, the relatively new Turkish builder, just announced that they’re working on a new VisionF60 catamaran, designed in house and built of fiberglass. VisionF was started in 2019 and launched its first boat, the VisionF 80 cat, in November, 2020 with an aluminum hull. The new 60 has the same clean, sporty lines as the original, and carries its 33-foot beam all the way from the bow to the stern, creating supersized living and entertaining spaces on the main deck and even up on the flybridge. The company says the 60 has a draft of just 2’ 1”, fully…

VisionF Black Cat Captures Solar Power

If you’re thinking about a boat that stands out from the crowd, take a look at the new all-black VisionF 80 catamaran from Turkey. The company says on its website that “We create innovative, exciting yachts that stand out with their distinctive designs.” But the black color is more than a cry for attention or a fashion statement. The black color is designed to attract more heat from the sun and convert it to energy, feeding the solar panels that seem to cover the boat. As is, the solar panels provide enough energy to power the black cat’s house systems.…

Silent Building 82 Hybrid Cat with VisionF

SILENT-YACHTS, the creative Austrian company, just announced that it’s building a new hybrid 82-foot cat with VisionF Yachts in Turkey. The new SILENT VisionF 82 will have a hybrid drivetrain; a fully electric model will also be available. The new cat will be a bit longer than the SILENT 80, but will carry less beam. It also will have more room on the foredeck, with a sunken lounge area that is not present on the SILENT cat. The salon and aft dining area will still be large and luxurious, with lots of room for relaxing and entertaining. The hull and…
