Azimut Launches Flagship Magellano

Azimut just launched its first Magellano 30 Metri, the flagship of its long-range cruising fleet, at its yard in Viareggio, Italy. The new 30 Metri (measuring 97’ 6”) carries on the Magellano identity of providing Azimut’s traditional comfort and elegance in a boat that’s designed to cruise far afield in all sorts of weather and sea conditions. The first Magellano, launched in 2009, was a 74, with a completely new look and hull, designed by the Dutch naval architect Ken Freivokh. It had a range of more than 1,100 m at 11 knots, considerably more than possible on any of…

Azimut Launches New Verve 42 in the U.S.

The very Italian-looking Azimut Verve 42, with a very slippery hull by the ubiquitous American designer Michael Peters, is making its debut in the United States. With three 450-hp Mercury outboards, the Verve 42 has a top speed of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 33 knots. The Verve 42 comes after wide acceptance of the Verve 47, launched just last year. The 42 has the same highly raked windshield and black T-Top over the helm, giving it a sporty, aerodynamic look. And it has the same folding-out bulwark aft, providing immediate access to the water, even with the…

Azimut Launching New 68 World Yacht

Azimut will launch its new 68 at the Cannes Yachting Festival starting Sept. 7, the latest in its Flybridge Collection of nine yachts from 50 to 78 feet. Azimut calls the 68 a world yacht, because it offers buyers three layout choices for the salon and dining areas on the main deck. With its growing popularity around the world, Azimut recognizes that people in different cultures use their yachts in different ways. Now they can choose the layout that best reflects how they like to spend their time on board. The first layout provides an elegant living area in the…

Coming Soon: “New Look” Azimut Magellano 66

Azimut will launch its “new look” Magellano 66 this spring, a major upgrade of the popular Italian long-range cruiser it introduced five years ago. The new look includes a redrawn flybridge, with a hardtop over the helm area, and much larger windows in the salon, letting in lots of natural light. The new Magellano will be powered by twin 850-hp MAN diesels. The original Magellano 66 had twin 800-hp Volvos that produced a top speed of 23 knots and a range of 1,000 nm at 9 knots. The new version keeps Azimut’s “dual mode” hull that offers a smooth ride…

The editors tested all the finalists for the awards, some 29 boats, in the past year. Azimut’s New Magellano 25 Metri: Luxurious Long-Range Cruiser

Azimut just completed its new Magellano 25 Metri luxury long-range cruiser, an 82-footer with a 25-knot top speed and lots of high-tech touches. The latest Magellano makes extensive use of carbon fiber, it has an active air-sanitizing system based on a NASA patent, and it offers a Hotel Mode option for silent, zero-emissions power while at anchor. And that’s before you get to what the Italian builder calls “artistic fiberglass” in the hull, and brushed Verde Alpi marble, dark walnut wood, polished brass, lacquered wood and ribbed wood in the interior. If you’re looking for a no-frills, bare-bones cruising boat,…

New Azimut Verve 47: Italian Style, Outboard Performance

Azimut just held the worldwide premiere of its new sleek, Italian-styled Verve 47 at the Miami Yacht Show in February. The new weekend cruiser turned heads throughout the show, but it really drew praise for its performance on the water, where its four 450-hp Mercury Racing outboards pushed it to a 50-knot top speed. The Verve 47, with a stepped hull by Michael Peters, the Sarasota designer who specializes in fast boats, represents a doubling-down on outboards by Azimut. It introduced its first outboard boat, a Verve 40, almost four years ago. The new 47, with an interior by Francesco…

Azimut Building New Verve 47 with Four Merc Racing Outboards

The new Verve 47 isn’t your typical Azimut. Indeed, it’s only Azimut’s second outboard boat, powered by four 450-hp Mercury Racing engines, and it is expected to top out at 45 knots. The Verve 47 builds on the success of the Verve 40, which was launched at the Newport, Rhode Island, boat show in 2016 and was powered by three 350-hp Mercury Verado outboards. In a sense, with the new 47, Azimut is doubling down on outboards, particularly in the American market. Even such traditional American builders as Hinckley, Back Cove and MJM have introduced outboard-powered cruising boats in the…
