Here’s a new concept from Evo Yachts in Naples, Italy: A 79-feet-long combination of a sailboat and powerboat, with four helm stations, an aft “beach” area that’s just above the water, and an entirely new way of looking at the cruising experience. The new yacht is called the Evo V8, the first model in Evo’s new V line. Valerio Rivellini, the Neapolitan yacht designer, says the Evo V8 is at the intersection of sail and power. “Motor yacht owners begin their holiday when they reach their destination, either at anchor or in port,” he says, “whereas sailing yacht owners start…

Numarine just built a new 84-feet 26XP explorer yacht with solar panels and extra batteries for extended self-reliant cruising. Powered by twin 560-hp MAN diesels, the displacement yacht has a bulbous bow a top speed of 13.5 knots and a range of 3,000 nm at 8 knots. Built in Istanbul, the latest Numarine is the 12th 26XP to be delivered in just the past three years. And it represents advances in both solar and quiet operation. “The new yacht is the most innovative in the entire 26XP fleet,” says Omer Malaz, the Numarine founder and chairman. “She has a super-silent…

Make no mistake. Bertram is still making serious fishing boats, including some battlewagons, in fact. But it’s also making more versatile boats, vessels that can be equally at  home fishing far offshore or cruising on the ICW or even on the Great Loop. Take a look at the new Bertram 50 Express, for example. Powered by optional twin MAN V12, 1,550-hp diesels it can head to the any fishing grounds offshore at 45 knots. Dial back a bit, swap out the tackle center for two mezzanine seats, add a swim platform and stay with the standard power of twin 1,150-hp…

Burger, the famed Wisconsin builder, just announced that it’s working on a new 66-foot aluminum motoryacht with a design by Vripack. We don’t have too many details yet, but the new Burger is meant to build on the success of the 48 cruiser that Burger launched in 2018. The 66 is being developed as a mid-sized flybridge yacht, with three staterooms, all with en suite heads, and a large salon and open galley. The new Burger also will have a forward seating area, a large aft deck for al fresco dining and relaxing, and a hydraulic swim platform that’s large…

Pacific Asian Enterprises, the parent company for Nordhavn, just announced that it is building two new models, a Nordhavn 625 and a Nordhavn 71.  The 625 is a variation on the current Nordhavn 60 hull, while the 71 is designed as a completely new, contemporary option for buyers in the 65- to 75-foot range. In the past few years, Nordhavn has experienced considerable success in moving the hull sizes for its various models forward; onward and upward. By refreshing existing hulls, the company is able to introduce updated, modern hulls. The new 625, for example, is based on the popular…

Bering Yachts just unveiled its plans for an all-new 72-foot explorer yacht with a range of more than 5,000 nm at 7 knots. Powered by twin 326-hp Cummins, the Bering 72 has a top speed of 10 knots. The company says the new 72 is “a true modern classic of the steel-hulled explorer yacht perfect for long family expeditions as well as shorthanded cruising.” The hull is made of steel; the superstructure of aluminum. The 72 is part of Bering’s Exploration series, with models from 70 to 109 feet. Built in Antalya, Turkey, the new 72 is a rugged three-deck…

Azimut just launched its new 53, a low-profile, 31-knot cruiser with a “floating flybridge” and a wide bow to make more room for a large social area on the foredeck and more interior volume in the VIP stateroom below. The new Azimut has the line’s large raked windshield for a moving-even-when-standing-still look, and a large transparent black band around the flybridge. Alberto Mancini, the yacht’s designer, says the band “gives us a wraparound feature that looks like a floating flybridge.” Both the foredeck and the bridge on the new Azimut are special. The foredeck has super-sized, plush walkaround sun pads…

Back Cove just announced that it was giving a facelift to the popular 37-foot Down East Cruiser that it first introduced in 2009. The new boat, called the 372, will still have the same lines as the original, but it also will have some new amenities and improvements that will make both cruising and living on board easier and more appealing. The original Back Cove 37 was a classic cruiser, with a single diesel, low profile and modern lobster-boat lines. The problem was, it was too popular. Back Cove, in Rockland, Maine, has sold more than 200 of them; the…

The new, massive and luxurious Aquila 70 flagship power catamaran will make its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, starting March 25. Aquila designed the new cat to look like a yacht, trying to avoid the more squared-off look of some large power catamarans. Lex Raas, the Aquila president, said the company interviewed many customers before they designed the 70, and they said “it needs to look like a yacht, not like a box.” As a result, the 70 has flowing lines and a luxurious aesthetic. The customers also said they wanted performance, Raas said. The 70…

Linssen just introduced its new Sturdy 40.0 Sedan Intero, an upgraded version of its 40 Sedan that was named the European Power Boat of the Year in the displacement category at the Düsseldorf show three years ago. The new Sturdy 40.0 has larger windows, a redesigned engine room, an improved helm station (with a sliding door to the port side deck), and Linssen’s “softchine prestressed” hull. Powered by the standard single 110-hp Volvo, the boat still travels at a displacement speed of 8 knots, but it also delivers a range of 500 nm. From its yard in Maasbracht, The Netherlands,…
