Aspen Power Catamarans is starting work on a new 35-foot C108 cruiser, with three private staterooms and Aspen’s trademark asymmetrical proa hulls, powered by one 200-hp Yamaha outboard and one 70-hp Yamaha outboard. Larry Graf, the founder, president and “lead adventurer” of Aspen Power Cats, says he will have a mockup of the new 35 at the Seattle boat show, from Jan. 24 to Feb. 1, with finished production models ready shortly after that. The new 35 has a beam of 10’ 8”, which adds 8 inches to Aspen’s earlier C107 model. The wider beam also adds interior volume and…

The new Sirena 58 Coupe will make its world debut at the Miami Yacht Show, starting Feb. 13. The latest entry from the high-end Turkish builder, the 58 Coupe is the little sister to the 58 Flybridge that is the most successful yacht in Sirena’s lineup. The Coupe was designed for the American market. Sirena says that many potential buyers said they wanted an express style yacht, so they could fit under Florida’s many bridges or cruise easily around the Great Loop. Still, the Coupe, designed by Germán Frers, has all the style and performance that distinguished the original flybridge…
Wally is launching its new head-turning 55-knot 48 Wallytender X at the Miami Yacht Show, starting Feb. 13. The beautiful new Wally, powered by four 450-hp Mercury Verado R outboards, is the performance-oriented sister to the inboard 48 Wallytender introduced this past fall. The original 48 Wallytender was powered by twin 480-hp Volvo IPS650 pod drives, and topped out at 38 knots. It was the first Wally produced since the Ferretti Group took over the company. For the U.S. market, Wally wanted a faster, outboard boat. “As a hotspot for the outboard yachting lifestyle, Florida is the perfect place to…
Arcadia Yachts launched its first revolutionary long-range Sherpa cruising boat at the Düsseldorf boat show ten years ago. Now it is returning to that show, starting January 18, with its latest version, the Sherpa XL, with a lot of innovative interior and exterior design features and a range of 1,400 nm at 10 knots. Sherpas don’t look like many other boats. The name means that they’re ready to carry owners and guests to far corners of the globe in safety and comfort, while also putting them in touch with the natural environment of the sea. Arcadia, with a yard near…
The new Nordhavn 41, the successor to the Nordhavn 40 that cruised around the world in 2001 and 2002, will be launched at the Palm Beach boat show, starting March 26. It will be Nordhavn’s new entry-level passagemaker, and is designed to cruise anywhere in the world. “We are dedicated to producing an exceptionally good boat,” said Jim Leishman, Nordhavn’s vice president. He said the new 41 will be more efficient and advanced than the 40, and also will carry a CE rating of Category A, the highest level of safety, which requires exceptional stability and commercial-rated windows and doors.…
The new Williams Evojet tender just looks like fun. Williams will launch the Evojet, its largest and most luxurious tender yet, at the Düsseldorf show, starting Jan. 18. Judging by the pictures, it’s bound to be a hit. This almost 23-feet-long tender is the first in Williams’ new Evojet series, and it’s big enough to hold a crowd, with seating for 13, and small enough to serve as a couple’s dayboat or runabout. Williams has designed the Evojet as a large yacht tender, but it just as easily could be a second boat or a sport boat in its own…
The new Palm Beach GT60, with the same low profile, long sheer and elegant tumblehome as other Palm Beach models, will debut at the Miami Yacht Show, starting Feb. 13. It follows the launch of the GT50 Open at Miami last year, and the GT50 Salon Express at the Newport, Rhode Island, show in September, 2018. The GT50 Salon Express was named Best New Powerboat at that show; the judges said the beautiful, fast and light Palm Beach motoryacht was just plain “sexy.” The new GT60 has all the same lines and heritage as the GT50, except it’s ten feet…
The new Turkish-built Sirena 64, just displayed at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, is one of the latest examples of contemporary European “fast trawlers” – really long-distance, comfortable cruising boats with a turn of speed – that include the Beneteau Swift Trawler line and the Azimut Magellanos. In the Sirena’s case, it offers an Italian design, by Tommaso Spadolini, a Germán Frers hull, and a top speed of more than 26 knots with twin 1,000-hp CAT diesels. Sirena spent a lot of time and research developing the hull, which delivers a fuel-efficient ride in the easy-cruising 8- to 12-knot…
Ranger Tugs just launched its new R 25 trailerable pocket cruiser at the Fort Lauderdale show. This newest Ranger is powered by a single Yamaha 250-hp outboard and, like all Rangers, it’s packed with enough amenities to make cruising easy and fun. Over the years, I’ve cruised on several Rangers in the Pacific Northwest. They’re made by Fluid Motion, based in Kent, Washington. It also makes Cutwater Boats, and it’s one of the most successful boat companies in recent times. I’ve always felt that each cruise ended much too soon, as Rangers (and Cutwaters) provide a lot of room and…
Silent-Yachts just announced that it’s making a new 80 Tri-Deck solar-powered catamaran with a sky lounge or “owner’s deck” on the upper deck with lots of private space and the possibility of panoramic views all around. The third deck is an enhancement of the yard’s successful flagship 80, making it the most spacious Silent to date. “The additional sky lounge is a very convenient space and helps stretch out the period of using the boat,” said Michael Köhler, the founder and CEO of Silent-Yachts, an Austrian company. “The extra space on top extends social areas on board, while offering new…
