Technohull just unveiled its new Omega 48 RIB, a luxury beast that can hold up to five 450-hp outboards. The Greek builder says the Omega 48 offers a fresh perspective on RIB performance, and that its ventilated deep-V hull design will provide a comfortable ride even in rough sea conditions. Technohull has been building RIBs for two decades, but it now has a state-of-the-art factory in Lavrio, southeast of Athens. The new Omega 48, with its aggressive lines and over-the-top performance, is a major step forward. The RIB’s 15’ 4” beam offers plenty of room for deck space on the…

Princess Yachts, the upscale British builder, announced that they’re expanding their Y Class range with a new Y85 flagship that will be launched next year. The all-new, contemporary styled Y85 was a joint product of the naval architect firm Olesinski and the Italian design house Pininfarina. The four-stateroom, flybridge motor yacht is innovative and luxurious, and its deep-v hull will provide a safe, fast ride offshore. The yacht is powered by twin 1,900-hp MAN V-12 diesels, providing a top speed of about 32 knots. One of the most intriguing features of the Y85 is the galley, where owners can choose…

Lyman-Morse in Thomaston, Maine, is building a new semi-custom version of the Ray Hunt-designed Monhegan 42, a seakindly, fast and comfortable cruising yacht. The new Monhegan was designed as a commuter yacht, carrying passengers back and forth to a corporate island retreat on Lake Ontario. It has seating for 12 on settees in the salon, plus eight more in the cockpit. Below, the arrangement could not be more simple; there’s a small head and lots of cargo space for luggage. Hunt has designed the Monhegan 42 in four configurations: Flybridge, Cruiser, Extended Hardtop Cruiser, and Open. They’re all available with…

The Nordhavn 80, designed as an owner-operator, ocean-crossing cruising yacht, has just been nominated for two prizes in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023. Hull number one of the 80 is on the shortlist for both Best Motor Yacht Design and Best Interior Yacht Design awards in the 25-40 meter category. Last year, the Nordhavn 41 won the Best Yacht Design award in the under-25-meters category, and in 2017 the Nordhavn 96 won the Best Yacht Design award in the under-40-meters category. The citation for this year’s award says, “The N80 is a distinctive yacht that bridges the gap…

Navier just held the world premiere for its new N30 all-electric foiling cruiser at Art Basel Miami Beach last week, and the company, a San Francisco startup, says it’s “the boat of the future.” The 30 is a stretched version of the 27-foot prototype that Navier has been working on for the past year. In addition to the extra three feet, the new 30 features individual wings on the rear hydrofoils instead of a single wing. The N30 has a high-tech active foil system so it can fly over the waves at up to 35 knots. It also features an…

Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding has started work on the first flybridge version of the Hood 35 LM at its yard in Thomaston, Maine. The new 35 with classic Down East lines will be launched this summer. The flybridge will be the second Hood 35 LM; the first was an express version that was launched last summer. Like the original, the new flybridge will be laid up with cold-molded wood composite; the hull will be made with Douglas fir and western red cedar. The flybridge will be made with carbon fiber to keep the weight down and the center of gravity low. Both…

Windy, the high-end builder in Sweden, just announced that’s reviving its Camira line, starting with a sporty new 40 Camira RS with optional outboard power. Windy first launched its Camira 39 in 2014, and sold 55 of them until it stopped production two years ago. That boat was powered by diesel sterndrives, and the helm deck was protected by just a Bimini top. The new 40 Camira is offered with two 425-hp Yamaha outboards, three 300-hp Yamahas, or two Volvo 440-hp diesels linked to sterndrives. With the big Yamahas, top speed is estimated at 44 knots. The 40 was designed…

Invictus just announced that it will unveil its new TT420 at the big Düsseldorf show in January. The TT420 is created with the same distinctive style and lines as the TT460 that won a Design Innovation Award just two years ago. All Invictus yachts are designed by Christian Grande, who has won many awards himself for his innovations and designs that are often a bit out of the box. The new Invictus TT420 has the yard’s signature slightly-reverse bow, and an eye-catching windshield that blends in to the modernistic carbon hardtop. The foredeck on the TT420 carries a large sun…

Most of us don’t want to put a hole in our boats, much less two of them. But that’s exactly what Sebastiano Canto, a very creative London-based designer, has done with his new 21-foot, all-electric catamaran named Enea. “The main feature is the combination between aesthetics and functionality,” Canto writes, with “a very original hull design” that reduces weight and lateral resistance without compromising the cat’s seakeeping ability. “Less weight and less water resistance equal greater efficiency,” he says. All that adds up to smaller engines to move the boat. Enea is powered by two Yamaha Harmo 3.4kW electric engines,…

The Navis Pro 34 Alpha Cruiser is a new boat from a new company based in Lithuania, and it’s a sturdy vessel meant to tackle the waters of the Baltic, where sea conditions often range from bad to terrible. Navis Pro was started in 2020 by owners who had spent 40 years in the commercial shipbuilding business and wanted to enter the recreational boating market. The 34 Alpha Cruiser is the result. It was designed by naval architects from Strahlmann Yacht Design in Finland, where the sea conditions also can be fairly gnarly. The Navis Pro 34 Alpha has an…
