Here’s a new boat that’s bound to get a lot of attention at the boat shows this fall, because of its looks, its pedigree, and its price. Take a first look at the head-turning Saxdor 320 GTO from the new Finnish company, Saxdor Yachts, founded just last November by Sakari Matilla, who previously was a founder of Axopar and several other boat companies. The Saxdor 320 GTO also is a product of the award-winning firm of J&J Design, which has worked on some of the best-selling sail and power boats for the past 36 years. And the Saxdor 320 GTO…

Sunreef Yachts, the luxury builder in Gdansk, Poland, is filling out its power catamaran fleet with the introduction of a new 70 footer. Its lineup already has 60-, 80- and 100-foot models, so the new 70 fills a gap. Like the previous models, the 70 is elegant, comfortable and seaworthy. The new cat also takes full advantage of its more than 37-foot beam to create enormous spaces for entertaining and living on board. The foredeck, for example, runs full beam and includes a “terrace,” a protected lounging area with sofas, and then an open area all the way forward for…

Invictus Yacht in Italy just unveiled its new, highly styled, TT460 flagship with a large amount of livable space on deck that can be made even larger with a fold out platform from each side. The new 46-foot boat also has Invictus’ signature “half-reverse” bow and a futuristic black carbon fiber hardtop with lines that curve forward to embrace the sun lounge on the foredeck. The TT460 is powered by twin 480-hp Volvo IPS650 pod drives, providing fuel efficiency, dynamic boat handling, and joystick control for easy docking. Built in Borgia, the boat will be launched later this summer. The…

The new VQ80 Sportfish from Vanquish Yachts in the Netherlands certainly isn’t the typical cruising boat that we usually write about, but it’s so over the top that I couldn’t resist. Consider this: The 79-foot Vanquish (top picture) isn’t the owner’s main boat: It’s just a chase boat for SkyFall, his 194-foot superyacht (above picture), now under construction as Heesen Yachts, also in the Netherlands. For its part, the Vanquish isn’t too shabby. It’s the most powerful Vanquish yet, with state-of-the-art C32 Cat diesels producing 4,800-hp paired to two surface drives. Top speed is expected to be 51 knots. It…

Aquila just announced that it’s building a new 54-foot cruiser for its large, worldwide catamaran fleet, and it is designed for maximum comfort inside and out. The full-beam master stateroom is forward, for example, with panoramic views from hull side windows; it takes advantage of the cat’s more than 25-foot beam to make it a special place underway or at an anchorage. The 54 will debut later this year, and we’ll have more details later on as well. But what we know now is that the boat will have three-, four- or even five-cabin configurations, plus a possible skipper’s quarters…

The super-modern Delta Carbon 54 is a fast, efficient cruiser from Sweden that’s made with infused carbon fiber for strength and light weight. The three-stateroom, two-head yacht with its distinctive angular profile tops out at 37 knots with twin 600-hp Volvo IPS800 pod drives; dial back to 7.5 knots, and the range is about 2,200 nm. Delta Carbon Yachts are part of Delta Powerboats, started in Stockholm in 2002. They have built more than 600 boats from 25 to 88 feet. In 2010, the company started Delta Carbon Yachts; at the time, it was the only company to make production…

Vripack, the highly regarded Dutch yacht design studio, just announced the building of a new Doggersbank 66 Offshore pocket explorer. The new Doggersbank is under construction at the Altena yard, also in the Netherlands, and is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2021. Vripack designed the yacht for a family of experienced sailors who are transitioning into motor yachts. Doggersbanks, with their iconic high bow, are rugged offshore vessels, made for long passages at sea. They were first designed by Dick Boon, the founder of Vripack, in the 1970s, and are named for a sandbank in a shallow…

Lamborghini and Tecnomar just introduced a new 63-foot, 4,000-hp, “Lamborghini on the water” that tops out at 60 knots and is designed to remind owners of how iconic a Lambo is – on land or on water. The new water-borne Lambo is a collaboration between the luxury Italian sports car builder and the Italian Sea Group, which is the parent company for Tecnomar. It’s named the Lamborghini 63 – to recognize both its length and 1963, the year that Lamborghini was founded. Giovanni Costantino, CEO of the Italian Sea Group, says the Lamborghini 63 is the fastest boat in the…

Silent-Yachts keeps on updating and improving its massive, luxurious, 80 Tri-Deck solar-powered catamaran. It now is offering new versions with a raised deck and larger windows for guests’ comfort and enjoyment underway, and a larger toy garage for more fun once they’ve stopped. The latest version, called the Loft, has a completely flush main deck, from the fore deck through the salon to the cockpit, to make moving around the yacht as easy as possible. Silent-Yachts, an Austrian company, has already sold four new yachts and has another eight under construction. But it keeps making changes in response to clients’…

Iguana’s amphibious RIBs made quite a splash when they were first introduced to the United States at the Fort Lauderdale boat show in 2019. And not only in the U.S. So far, Iguanas with deep-V hulls to cruise through the water and tractor drives to climb onto beaches on land, have been tested on all six continents of the world. Now, Iguana is launching a new, improved luxury model, called the Iguana Knight. After its initial success, said Antoine Brugidou, the French company’s founder and president, “Iguana experienced an unprecedented demand for a more luxurious RIB built to a higher…
