New Aero 45 RIB, “A Pocket Super Yacht”

The Aero 45 is a new kind of RIB. Indeed, its Swiss builder, A-Line Marine, calls it an “all-weather, pocket super yacht.” Named for the Greek word for “air,” the Aero 45 has side forming air tubes that are supposed to limit roll during cruising and at anchor. They also are intended to absorb much of the vibration caused by slamming into a head sea, while retaining the boat’s buoyancy. The aluminum hull is lightweight and designed for performance. The new sturdy and lightweight Highfield Classic 360 RIB with a GT Console would make a great companion on the Great Loop, your next cruising vacation, or just for running around your favorite harbor or anchorage. Sergio Davi Reaches Colombia on 36-foot RIB

Sergio Davi, the 65-year-old Italian adventurer, just arrived in Cartagena, Colombia, the ninth stop on his 10,000 nm voyage from Palermo, Sicily, to Los Angeles on his 36-foot RIB. Davi tied up at the Club Nautico Marina in Cartagena (see picture at top), after a 26-hour, 443-nm trip from Curacao, the Dutch island in the Caribbean. He has been skirting the coast of South America ever since he arrived in French Guyana on Feb. 10. Historic Trip: Sicily to LA on a RIB

Sergio Davi, the ocean-crossing adventurer, has just started an epic 10,000-nm voyage on a 36-foot RIB from Salerno, Sicily, to Los Angeles. He expects the trip to take about 100 days, arriving in LA toward the end of February. The route is from Gibraltar to the Canary Islands, then Cape Verde, and across the Atlantic to French Guyana in South America. Highfield Launches 30-Foot Flagship RIB

Highfield Boats, the world’s largest maker of aluminum-hulled RIBs, just launched its largest boat yet, the almost-30-foot Sport 900 that can hold 15 passengers and hit a top speed of 60 mph. The all-new Sport 900 has an unusual 26-degree deadrise at the transom so the large RIB can cut through offshore waters. RS Making New 20-foot All-Electric RIB

RS Electric Boats will start making a new 20-foot all-electric RIB in January, with plans for at least 50 more next year. If the new RS Pulse 63 catches on, the UK-based company says it can make 100 or more in a year.
